Description: Data failure can strike at anytime, for any number of reasons; most often not hardware related. One of the most common scenario's with today's high-availability systems is partition failures or block errors. This is when the reference table for all objects on a given partition get damaged or lost; resulting in data disappearing from known locations on a system or total system failure.

Another common but sad scenario is that of accidental deletion; be it deleting a database or a top level directory tree. A mistaken rm command can spell disaster without adequate backups.

Our recovery standards allow us to rebuild partition tables in a quick and reliable fashion. We are capable of reviewing a hard disk for known characteristics of an exiting or previous partition table. Once partition tables have been identified we can then save the information back to disk and all files will appear on the file system once again.

If a partition table can not be identified we are capable of performing manual data recover by means of searching the disk for specific data or strings of data and piecing it back together. This manual process does incur further costs but it will be presented to you as an option only should it be a last resort.

The approximate time for scanning a disk and there-in restoring a partition table is roughly 30 minutes per 20GB of space. This package is inclusive of up to 2 partition table recoveries (i.e.: /home & /var) and/or up too 120GB of data. Please inquire with sales@r-fx.ca for more complex recovery needs.

Important Information: In order to perform successful recovery of a partition table, we require access to system in any of the following forms:
1) The server is remotely accessible via KVM or SSH and the disk which contains damaged partitions is mounted SLAVE (NOT PRIMARY). It may be appropriate to get a clean restore and HAVE THE AFFECTED DISK MOVED TO SLAVE.
OR
2) System has NOT BEEN REBOOTED since partition table damage (i.e.: fdisk accidental delete of a partition or bad rm -rf)
OR
3) We will also accept the disk for physical recovery at our location. You will be required to cover the SHIPPING COSTS TO R-fx Networks however upon return of the disk(s) FROM R-fx Networks we will COVER RETURN SHIPPING COSTS. Please ensure your hardware is well packaged and avoid any packaging that includes small styrofoam pellets/balls. The best packaging is that from a previously purchased hard drive (i.e: the hard plastic or plastic/cardboard enclosures). Please send all hard disks to the below postal address; all shipmentsMUST BE MADE BY COURIER DHL, UPS or Federal Express.
